Hendrik Bonmann discusses failed Bayern Munich transfer

Ludogorets goalkeeper Hendrik Bonmann has revealed details regarding a near-transfer to Bayern Munich. The 32-year-old German goalkeeper confirmed that negotiations had reached an advanced stage for a move in the summer of 2025, but the deal ultimately fell through after Bayern Munich decided to continue with Sven Ulreich.

Bonmann also reflected on his unconventional football career, noting that he was released from the Schalke 04 academy at age 15 because he was considered too short at 1.71 meters. He has since grown to 1.94 meters and played for clubs including Rot-Weiss Essen, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich 1860 before joining Ludogorets in 2024.

During his time at Borussia Dortmund, Bonmann worked under managers Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel. He described Klopp as a “father figure” who was always ready for dialogue, stating that the manager's character and tactical excellence made him someone a young player would do anything for.
