Hendrik Holt, convicted wind power fraudster, flees Germany

Hendrik Holt, a convicted wind power fraudster, has reportedly fled Germany. Berlin Justice Senator Felor Badenberg informed the House of Representatives Legal Committee that Holt has left the country and does not intend to return.

An EU-wide arrest warrant has been issued for the 36-year-old. Holt, who was serving a sentence in an open prison in Berlin, failed to return from a leave of absence on August 25. On social media, Holt suggested he was in Moscow, posting about the quality of the caviar there.

In 2022, the Osnabrück District Court sentenced Holt to nearly nine years in prison for organized fraud, bribery, and forgery. His crimes involved selling wind farms to non-existent foreign energy companies and bribing foreign diplomats to obtain a diplomatic passport to evade German law enforcement.
