Hendrik Wüst discusses balancing family life and political duties

North Rhine-Westphalia Minister-President Hendrik Wüst shared personal insights regarding his family life during an appearance on the ‘NDR Talk Show’. The 51-year-old CDU politician discussed the challenges of managing his responsibilities as a leader while raising two daughters.

Wüst revealed that since the birth of his second daughter in March, his sleep patterns have changed, occasionally leading him to sleep on a sofa to accommodate the infant's active nighttime behavior. To maintain family time, he strictly blocks off one full weekend per month and at least one evening during the week, noting that traditional ‘date nights’ have transitioned into quiet family dinners.

When asked about potential future political ambitions, including the possibility of succeeding Friedrich Merz as Chancellor, Wüst indicated that he would consult his wife regarding such significant decisions.
