Hendrik Wüst visits moon simulation facility in North Rhine-Westphalia

North Rhine-Westphalia Minister-President Hendrik Wüst conducted a summer press tour highlighting the region's role in future technologies. A key stop included the Luna moon simulation facility at the German Aerospace Center (DLR).

At the facility, which features a 700-square-meter artificial lunar landscape and 900 tons of simulated moon dust, Wüst met with ESA astronauts Alexander Gerst and Matthias Maurer. The site is used to test space suits and simulate lunar operations. Wüst emphasized that North Rhine-Westphalia aims to be a leading location for spaceflight, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and quantum technology, stating, “The path into space already leads through North Rhine-Westphalia today.”
