Hengdian World Studios attracts tourists through film acting experiences
Hengdian World Studios, often referred to as the ‘Chinese Hollywood’ in Zhejiang province, is seeing a rise in tourists participating as actors in short film productions. During the National Day holidays from October 1 to 7, visitors paid to play lead roles in brief cinematic scenes.
With a single entry ticket, tourists can join one of over ten short film troupes. Directors provide scripts and on-site instruction, allowing visitors to complete scenes lasting between 10 and 45 minutes. For a more professional experience, production resources such as costumes, makeup, lighting, and scenery are available, sometimes allowing visitors to act alongside experienced professionals.
Hengdian reported attracting over 9 million visitors in the first half of this year, representing a 21.2% increase compared to the previous year. During peak periods, more than 100 people per day signed up for these acting experiences.
