Hengelo robbery suspects to remain in custody

Two primary suspects in a violent robbery in Hengelo will remain in custody following a 90-day extension of their pre-trial detention. The incident occurred after a man arranged a meeting via a website.

During the encounter at a residence on Oelerweg, two masked men appeared, threatened the victim with a firearm, and physically assaulted him, specifically striking him in the head. The assailants forced the victim to withdraw 250 euros from an ATM and stole his mobile phone.

While five people were initially detained in connection with the case, including one woman, the woman and two other suspects have since been released. The two main suspects will remain held until the first public court hearing.
