Hengyang police penalize pregnant woman and driver after traffic dispute

Police in Hengyang, Hunan province, have concluded an investigation into a traffic dispute involving a pregnant woman and a car driver. The incident occurred on September 28, when a woman, identified as Cui, was riding an electric scooter in the middle of a roadway rather than the designated non-motorized lane.

According to authorities, Cui engaged in several dangerous driving behaviors, including tailing a vehicle, weaving to obstruct traffic, and stopping abruptly in front of the car when the traffic light turned green. In response to these provocations, the driver, identified as Liu, exited his vehicle and kicked the woman’s scooter. Liu subsequently paid 800 yuan in compensation.

The Hengyang Public Security Bureau determined that Cui violated multiple road safety regulations, including failing to wear a helmet and improper lane usage. She was fined 200 yuan and received four points on her driver's license. Because Liu’s actions did not result in physical injury or significant property damage, he received a formal reprimand from local police.
