HENN wins competition to redesign Schloss Bellevue interiors
The architectural firm HENN has won the competition to redesign the representative interior rooms of Schloss Bellevue, the official residence of the German President. The competition was conducted by the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR) on behalf of the Federal Presidential Office.
Out of eleven submitted designs, the jury unanimously selected HENN’s proposal, which aims to carefully develop the historical spaces by integrating modern elements. The design concept is intended to reflect themes such as equality, memory, freedom of the press, and social responsibility.
The redesign is part of a broader, multi-year comprehensive renovation of Schloss Bellevue that will include technical and energetic upgrades. While HENN has deep roots in Munich, the project will be officially attributed to the firm’s Berlin location. The second prize was awarded to the Berlin-based office bfs d Stefan Flachsbarth Michael Schultz.
