Hennessey Blackbird hypercar sells out all 71 units

Hennessey has announced that all 71 units of its limited-edition Blackbird hypercar are sold out. While 60 units were reserved privately, the final 11 available slots were claimed within four hours of the vehicle's public debut at The Quail during Monterey Car Week.

Positioned as a ‘Touring Hypercar,’ the Blackbird distinguishes itself from modern trends toward electrification and digital interfaces by emphasizing mechanical engagement. It features a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine developed with Ilmor Engineering, targeting an output of 800 to 850 hp and a rev limit exceeding 9,000 rpm. The vehicle utilizes a six-speed gated manual transmission and a rear-wheel-drive configuration.

The interior follows a ‘Zero Screens’ philosophy, replacing digital displays with large analog tachometers and physical controls to enhance the driving experience. The car is built on a carbon fiber monocoque with a target dry weight of approximately 1,360 kg. Production is expected to begin in Texas between 2029 and 2030.
