Hennessey unveils Blackbird hypercar and Mercedes-AMG expands GT lineup

Hennessey has unveiled the Blackbird, a new hyper GT designed to prioritize driving dynamics and comfort over pure speed records. Inspired by the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird aircraft, the vehicle features carbon fiber construction with a dry weight of 1,360 kg. Aerodynamic elements include active rear stabilizers that deploy at 71 mph, set at a 71-degree angle. The car will be powered by a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine from Ilmor Engineering. The interior focuses on a timeless aesthetic, utilizing analog gauges instead of digital displays to ensure longevity.

Separately, Mercedes-AMG is expanding its GT lineup with an SUV variant. This new model is expected to be over five meters long and will feature an increased battery capacity of approximately 130 kWh to compensate for higher weight and air resistance. The SUV lineup will include three motor configurations: the GT 53 (400 kW), GT 55 (600 kW), and the high-performance GT 63 (860 kW).
