Aymonod and Ghelfi win Italian mountain uphill titles in Susa

In Susa, Henri Aymonod and Francesca Ghelfi secured Italian mountain uphill titles at the XXXVIII Challenge Stellina, marking their second national titles in less than a month. Aymonod won the men's race with a time of 1:20:16, while Ghelfi took the women's title in 1:36:00, following a strong performance by Kenyan Joyce Njeru.

At the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, the national fencing team earned three medals, including silver for Davide Filippi in men's foil. The Italian delegation also showed dominance in cycling, with Rachele Barbieri securing a podium sweep in the women's road race.

Environmental concerns were highlighted by Legambiente's Carovana dei Ghiacciai, reporting significant glacier retreat in the Alps, including a 15-meter height loss in the Miage glacier over six years. Additionally, reports noted the impact of climate change on summer skiing and the environmental cost of new artificial tracks in Basilicata.
