Henri Konan Bédié commemorated on third death anniversary in Abidjan

The Parti Démocratique de Côte d'Ivoire – Rassemblement Démocratique Africain (PDCI‑RDA) announced a memorial mass for former President Henri Konan Bédié on 1 August 2026. The service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Chapelle de Pépessou in Abidjan, following a communiqué signed by party secretary‑executive Yapo Calice. Party president Cheick Tidjane Thiam called on militants, supporters and the diaspora to join the ceremony and to organise similar prayers in churches and mosques across the country.

In a reflective tribute, authors highlighted Bédié’s long political career – from minister of finance to head of state and long‑time leader of the PDCI‑RDA – and praised his role in mentoring a generation of Ivorian officials and entrepreneurs. The commemoration underscores the party’s effort to preserve his legacy and to reinforce its historical influence in Côte d'Ivoire.
