Henri Matisse exhibitions launch in Italy and Germany

Major art exhibitions dedicated to Henri Matisse are opening in Europe. At the MUDEC (Museo delle Culture) in Italy, the monographic exhibition “Matisse. Il mondo in una stanza” will run from October 8, 2026, to February 21, 2027. The exhibition explores the relationship between Matisse and non-European cultures, featuring approximately 100 works including paintings, watercolors, and drawings from institutions such as MoMA and the Musée d’Orsay. The display will also include African, Islamic, Russian, Chinese, and Pacific artifacts to highlight the cultural influences on his work.

In Germany, Phoenix des Lumières at Phoenix West has launched new immersive shows. “Matisse: Symphonie der Farben” utilizes large-scale projections to focus on the artist’s use of color and his artistic evolution. This is accompanied by a short immersive show titled “Frida Kahlo: Aus Leidenschaft,” which explores the Mexican artist’s themes of identity and nature through moving imagery.
