Henriksdal station reconstruction costs more than double

The reconstruction of Henriksdal station has seen its projected costs more than double, rising from 228 million to 477 million SEK. This increase is driven by new requirements to support a 12-minute service frequency on the Saltsjöbanan line as it returns toward Slussen.

A 2025 investigation determined that the station requires a more extensive overhaul than previously planned in 2022. To accommodate the increased traffic, the project must now include a new central platform, relocated signaling systems, rock excavation, and the ability for two trains to enter the station simultaneously. Additionally, a new grade-separated passage is planned to ensure passengers no longer need to cross tracks via the current level crossing.

The expanded scope and increased costs have also resulted in the postponement of the start of traffic.
