Henrique Capriles criticizes immigration enforcement in Doral, Florida

Venezuelan opposition leader Henrique Capriles has criticized immigration enforcement policies in Doral, Florida, describing the situation as ‘inacceptable.’ He noted that the Venezuelan community in the area is experiencing ‘moments of fear and uncertainty’ due to increased operations by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Capriles stated that individuals with pending immigration paperwork or active asylum processes are being detained and ‘treated as if they were criminals.’ He emphasized that many of these residents fled political persecution in Venezuela to build lives and businesses in the United States, many of which are now reportedly closing due to the climate of fear.

Local officials have also expressed concern. Doral Mayor Christi Fraga reported that fear has permeated families and entire communities, noting that some parents are avoiding taking their children to various activities due to the heightened enforcement presence.
