Henrique Dourado rescinds contract with Botafogo-PB
Striker Henrique Dourado has rescinded his contract with Botafogo-PB by mutual agreement. The decision comes two rounds before the conclusion of the Série C quadrangular stage.
The departure follows a confrontation between the 37-year-old veteran and club supporters. During a match against Maringá on September 26, a bottle was thrown at Dourado as he headed toward the locker rooms. In response, the player made obscene gestures and a “small” hand signal toward the crowd.
Dourado issued a statement clarifying that his actions were directed at a specific individual rather than the entire fanbase, expressing repudiation for the violence. Despite this clarification, the club and the athlete opted to terminate their professional relationship. Dourado leaves the club after two seasons, having recorded 14 goals in 66 appearances.
