Henry Coates Wins Players Championship 25 in Hildesheim

Twenty‑year‑old English darts talent Henry Coates captured his first Professional Darts Corporation ranking title at the Players Championship 25 in Hildesheim, Germany. Entering the event as a Challenge Tour substitute without a PDC Tour Card, Coates defeated Australian Damon Heta 8‑4 in the final and posted a 104.88 average, becoming only the fifth player to win a ranking event without a Tour Card.

Coates' run included a 6‑0 whitewash of Bradley Brooks and Christian Kist, a 7‑3 semifinal win over Jeffrey de Graaf, and the decisive checkout of 88 on the bullseye. The tournament also featured upsets such as world No. 3 Gian van Veen losing to Canadian Jim Long and Michael van Gerwen being eliminated by de Graaf in the quarter‑finals.

Coates called the victory a historic breakthrough and said he hopes it marks the start of a longer‑term career surge.
