Henry Rollins announces new memoir ‘Bait Dog Boy’

Musician and author Henry Rollins has announced a new memoir titled ‘Bait Dog Boy’, scheduled for release on March 2, 2027. The 304-page autobiography, published by Random House in the US and Little, Brown in the UK, marks the first time Rollins will directly address his childhood and adolescence.

The book details his upbringing in Washington, D.C., characterized by indifferent parents and encounters with abusive adults. Rollins uses the title ‘Bait Dog Boy’ as a metaphor for his experience of absorbing violence and pain during his formative years. The narrative follows his journey from these difficult circumstances to his discovery of punk rock through his friendship with Ian MacKaye, which served as a lifeline.

Rollins is widely recognized as the former frontman of Black Flag and the Rollins Band, as well as an actor and spoken word artist. This upcoming work follows his previous autobiographical writing, such as the Grammy-winning ‘Get in the Van’.
