Hepatitis A cases reported in Pisa and Livorno

Ten cases of Hepatitis A have been reported in the areas of Pisa and Livorno, Tuscany. The Azienda USL Toscana nord ovest is conducting epidemiological investigations to determine if the cases share a common origin.

Health officials are specifically investigating a potential cluster associated with a seaside establishment on the Pisan coast. While the exact source of the infection has not yet been confirmed, surveillance activities are ongoing in collaboration with local healthcare facilities.

Currently, three individuals are hospitalized in the infectious diseases department of the Livorno hospital and are reported to be in good condition. Other patients have been examined and discharged with medical prescriptions and instructions for home care.
