Heraklion begins Kalokairinou Avenue redevelopment

The Municipality of Heraklion has signed a contract with HEDNO (DEDDIE) to begin the undergrounding of electrical networks on Kalokairinou Avenue. The contract, valued at €260,238.12 including VAT, covers the section from Idis Street to Giamalaki Street.

This utility work is the first phase of a broader urban redevelopment project with a total budget of €1,017,082.23 (excluding VAT), funded by the ‘Crete 2021-2027’ Program. Once the electrical networks are moved underground, the municipality will proceed with aesthetic and functional upgrades, including widening sidewalks, installing new paving, adding greenery, and upgrading lighting and hydraulic networks. The project aims to revitalize local commerce and improve the quality of life in the city center.
