Heraklion elderly care unit hosts summer event

A summer event was held at the ‘Panagia i Gorgoepeekoos’ Elderly Care Unit of the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Minas in Heraklion. The gathering was attended by the Archbishop of Crete, Eugenios, and was dedicated to the elderly residents of the facility.

The evening featured music, singing, and traditional dances provided by the Manolis and Lazaros Chnaris Folklore Club and the ensemble of Lefteris Tampakakis. During the event, Archbishop Eugenios emphasized the importance of practical care and human presence, stating that the residents are part of the ‘large family of the Church’ and find ‘rest for the soul’ there.

Father Georgios Haniotakis, President of the Unit’s Board of Directors, expressed gratitude to the Archbishop for the ongoing support of the Holy Archbishopric and highlighted the dedicated efforts of the staff in caring for the elderly residents.
