Heraklion hosts 3rd Regional Dental Federation Conference

The Mayor of Heraklion, Alexis Kalokairinos, declared the opening of the 3rd Regional Conference of the Hellenic Dental Federation and Cretan Dental Associations. Held at the Heraklion Cultural Congress Center, the two-day event brings together university academics and dental representatives from across Greece.

During the opening, Mayor Kalokairinos highlighted the rapid evolution of dental science, noting its intersection with biotechnology, information technology, artificial intelligence, and material science. He specifically addressed the social dimension of dentistry, stating that oral health can often be a marker of social vulnerability and that dental professionals play a vital role in combating social discrimination.

The Mayor also praised the sector's tradition of social contribution, citing humanitarian missions and programs that support vulnerable groups, island communities, and primary school students. He extended thanks to the Heraklion Dental Association and its president, Giannis Sbokos, for their work within the municipality's social structures.
