Heraklion judicial services to undergo temporary relocation
Greek Justice Minister George Floridis has announced plans to temporarily relocate certain judicial services in Heraklion to alleviate overcrowding and address building issues. Following a public call for interest, a committee has selected a property exceeding 3,500 square meters within the Municipality of Heraklion for lease.
This temporary measure is intended to serve as a solution until the construction of a new Judicial Building is completed on a 17-acre plot located at the intersection of Ethnikis Antistaseos Avenue and Nearchou. The Minister also noted that repairs and interventions have been implemented at the current judicial building, which is classified as a historical monument.
Opposition members, including Eleni Vatsina, have commented on the development, describing the temporary relocation as a positive step against the delays in justice caused by structural problems, while criticizing the perceived lack of progress regarding the permanent new judicial complex.
