Heraklion: Man arrested after brandishing replica pistol at homeless center

A 50-year-old man was arrested in Heraklion after brandishing what appeared to be a firearm at a homeless day care center in Nea Alikarnassos. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when the man, a frequent visitor to the facility, displayed the object in front of staff members.

Upon arrival, police detained the individual and discovered that the weapon was actually a replica pistol rather than a functional firearm. While the man initially claimed the weapon was legal, authorities seized the object and took him to the Heraklion Police Directorate. No specific threats were made against the staff, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident.
