Heraklion: 40-year-old arrested for stalking women and possessing child abuse material
A 40-year-old man was arrested in Heraklion, Greece, on September 25, 2026, following a months-long investigation into the stalking and harassment of several women. The suspect was apprehended by police in the Mastaba area while he was on the balcony of an 18-year-old woman's residence. During the arrest, the suspect reportedly resisted, causing a minor injury to a police officer's hand.
The investigation, which began in mid-June following complaints from three women aged 18, 20, and 25, initially focused on reports of stalking and trespassing. However, a search of the suspect's residence and digital devices revealed a much more severe situation. Authorities discovered approximately 500 digital files containing child sexual abuse material, including videos of children as young as 4, 5, and 6 years old.
Police also found video footage of at least two additional women recorded inside their homes without their knowledge. Investigators believe the suspect obtained some of the illicit material via the Dark Web. The suspect faces multiple serious charges, including child pornography, sexual assault, threat, and violation of privacy laws. The digital evidence has been sent to forensic laboratories for further analysis to determine the origin and extent of the material.
