Heraklion police seize illegal alcohol and counterfeit goods
Police operations in Heraklion, Crete, have led to the seizure of large quantities of illegal goods and the arrest of several individuals. In one major operation, authorities seized approximately 1,003 liters of unregulated alcoholic beverages from a storage facility belonging to a 53-year-old business owner. The seizure included various containers of unknown liquid and products with labels from a distillery in Attica. Additionally, police confiscated 129 metal canisters of nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas,” which were estimated to be sufficient for approximately 30,000 balloons.
In a separate investigation, two individuals, aged 52 and 43, were arrested for the sale of counterfeit luxury goods. This operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 1,044 items, including 120 pieces of jewelry and 924 items of clothing bearing fake brand logos. The estimated economic damage to the rightful trademark owners is at least €77,794. The suspects face charges including forgery and the distribution of criminal products.
