Heraklion officials address regional issues as Messenia unions plan protests

In Heraklion, New Democracy officials led by Lefteris Avgenakis are coordinating with the Prime Minister’s office and various ministries to address regional issues. Key priorities include resolving building permit discrepancies, improving the road network, and managing agricultural declarations for 2026. Meetings are scheduled with the Ministry of Rural Development and Food to address concerns from farmers and cooperatives regarding registration errors and platform stability.

Meanwhile, in Messenia, the Private Sector Employees Union has called for a mass meeting in Kalamata on October 25. The union is organizing labor groups, farmers, and retirees to protest the rising cost of living, specifically citing high prices for fuel, energy, and basic consumer goods. The group warns that the economic situation will worsen during the winter and argues that small subsidies are insufficient to address the crisis.
