Heraklion Police Union warns of staffing shortages

The Heraklion Police Union has expressed serious concerns regarding the staffing of the newly inaugurated Organized Crime Sub-Directorate in Crete. While the Union acknowledges the importance of the new unit in combating organized crime, it warns that the department has been bolstered exclusively by transferring personnel from existing, already understaffed services within the Heraklion Police Directorate.

The Union states that this internal reallocation has weakened existing services, making it difficult for them to meet basic operational needs and policing requirements. They are calling on the political and physical leadership of the Greek Police to provide clear answers and implement emergency transfers to fill organic vacancies in the new units and replenish the personnel lost from other departments.
