Heraklion Port and Airport sign strategic cooperation memorandum

The Heraklion Port Organization (OLI) and the Heraklion International Airport (DAIK) have signed a Memorandum of Strategic Cooperation. The agreement aims to enhance connectivity and competitiveness in Crete by developing joint actions in tourism, cruise services, transportation, and supply chain management. Officials stated the goal is to treat the port and airport as a single, modern transport and tourism ecosystem, positioning Heraklion as a leading cruise hub and homeporting destination in the Eastern Mediterranean.

In a separate regional initiative, the Pella Regional Unit will host the ‘Welcome to Pella’ promotion in Heraklion, Crete, from October 9 to 11, 2026. The event seeks to introduce the history, culture, natural beauty, and local gastronomy of Pella to the Cretan public, fostering communication and cooperation between the two regions.
