Heraklion Port: Man arrested with €56,000 and stolen bank cards

Authorities at the Heraklion Port in Greece arrested a 31-year-old Palestinian national during a security check before he could board a ferry to Piraeus. Officers discovered €56,000 hidden inside his private vehicle, the origin of which the individual could not justify.

In addition to the cash, police seized eight bank cards belonging to other foreign nationals, along with various cash withdrawal receipts. The investigation also led to the seizure of two mobile phones, a laptop, and a notebook containing handwritten notes and records of monetary amounts.

The arrest was conducted by the Security Office and the Regional Narcotics Prosecution Group of the Central Port Authority of Heraklion. The individual faces charges related to theft, money laundering, and illegal payment services. The seized funds are slated to be deposited into the Consignments and Loans Fund.
