Heraklion to host 3rd Walls Festival starting August 31

The 3rd Walls Festival, organized by the Municipality of Heraklion, is set to premiere on Monday, August 31, and will run until September 10. The opening festivities include a drone show at Prochamou Iesou Square, a screening of the film ‘Franz Kafka-Franz 2025’ at the Bethlehem Municipal Summer Cinema, and a concert featuring Dimitra Galani and Eleni Tsaligopoulou accompanied by the Estoudianitina Orchestra of Nea Ionia Volou at the Nikos Kazantzakis Garden Theater.

In preparation for the event, local officials visited the Vitouri Gate and the Manos Hatzidakis Garden Theater, both part of the Venetian Walls. Large-scale digital prints from the Heraklion Municipal Art Gallery have been installed at the entrances of these monuments to connect the city’s historical heritage with its artistic identity. Mayor Alexis Kalokairinos noted that using art to utilize these monuments enhances the experience for visitors and highlights the cultural wealth of Heraklion.
