Morning Beverages' Health Effects: Herbal Teas and Coffee

Herbal teas are promoted as natural ways to boost morning energy without the sharp caffeine spike of coffee. Popular blends include mint for digestion, lemon balm for calm, nettle for nutrients, and chamomile with ginger for warmth. Recipes combine base herbs with complementary flavors such as citrus, honey, or spices to support digestion, concentration, hormonal balance, and overall wellbeing.

Studies on coffee consumption show that moderate intake—about 200‑300 mg of caffeine, roughly two to three cups a day—is associated with a 48 % lower risk of cardiometabolic diseases and a reduced likelihood of dementia. Benefits appear linked to caffeine’s influence on lipid metabolism, and higher amounts do not provide additional advantages. Decaffeinated coffee did not show the same protective effects, suggesting caffeine plays a key role.

Both herbal‑tea routines and moderate coffee drinking are presented as alternatives for a healthier start to the day, emphasizing balance and personal tolerance.
