Herbalife survey: High health awareness in Taiwan faces motivation gaps

A recent survey by Herbalife, the ‘2026 Asia-Pacific Health Culture Survey’, reveals that health awareness in Taiwan is among the highest in the region. Approximately 89% of Taiwanese respondents expressed high health awareness, surpassing the Asia-Pacific average of 82%. Key drivers for this increased focus include aging (48%) and personal health warnings (43%).

Despite high awareness and a willingness from 65% of consumers to invest more in their health, many struggle with consistency. About 44% of respondents cited a ‘lack of motivation’ as a primary barrier to maintaining healthy habits. Weight management emerged as the most urgent health priority, with 35% of Taiwanese participants identifying it as the area needing the most improvement.

Among preferred health methods, 47% of Taiwanese consumers favor nutritional supplements, followed by regular exercise (46%) and healthy eating (42%). The report notes a generational gap in habit maintenance: while Gen Z is more active in trying health activities than in previous years, only about 30% are able to sustain these habits long-term, compared to nearly 50% of older age groups.
