Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Reopens After $20 Million Renovation

The Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum in West Branch, Iowa, reopened today following an 18‑month, $20.3 million renovation. The project added 2,300 sq ft of space, a new lobby, an enlarged gift shop and adaptable exhibit areas, bringing the museum up to modern accessibility and interpretive standards.

BRC Imagination Arts re‑designed the exhibitions, presenting President Hoover and First Lady Lou Henry Hoover’s lives in parallel and highlighting Hoover’s humanitarian work that fed millions after World War I. The museum is the first presidential library to treat a First Lady as an equal subject. Hoover’s great‑grandson, Allan Hoover III, presided over the reopening ceremony and emphasized his ancestor’s legacy of public service and global relief efforts.
