Herbert Wigwe commemorated on 60th posthumous birthday

Family, friends, and colleagues are commemorating the 60th posthumous birthday of the late Dr. Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe. A prominent banker, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Wigwe passed away on February 9, 2024.

Wigwe is widely recognized for his leadership in transforming Access Bank from a Nigerian institution into Access Holdings, a major financial services group with international operations. As a former Co-CEO and Chairman of the Bankers’ Committee, he played a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s banking industry and economy.

Beyond his financial career, Wigwe’s legacy includes extensive investments in education, healthcare, and youth development through initiatives such as The HOW Foundation and Wigwe University. He was noted for his commitment to using the private sector to drive national development and creating opportunities for disadvantaged communities.
