Croatia officials mark 33rd anniversary of Herceg-Bosna in Mostar

Political leaders from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered in Mostar and Grude to mark the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the Croatian Republic of Herceg-Bosna. Dragan Čović, President of the Croatian National Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated that the institutions of Herceg-Bosna were essential for the survival and political independence of Croats in the region and remain a vital component of the Dayton Agreement framework.

Ivan Anušić, Croatia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, emphasized that Croatia will continue to support the political independence of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He called for urgent changes to the Electoral Law, arguing that the current political status of Croats in the country is unjust and prevents them from effectively choosing their own representatives. Anušić also expressed support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's path toward joining NATO and the European Union.

The commemorations included wreath-laying ceremonies at the grave of Mate Boban and memorial services for fallen defenders. Additionally, the event featured the presentation of the photo monograph ‘1860 Days’ by Joze Pavković, which documents the wartime and post-war events in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1991 to 1996.
