Herceg Novi water supply restrictions spark political dispute

Herceg Novi is experiencing water supply restrictions due to scheduled maintenance on the system receiving water from the Plata direction. This has sparked significant political tension between local groups.

The Demokrate party has accused executive director Olivera Doklestić of mismanagement, claiming that failures at the Opačica source and poor oversight of the monitoring center have caused chaos. They argue that the current situation is a result of errors dating back to her first term.

In response, the GP Idemooo movement defended Doklestić, characterizing the accusations as personal attacks. They stated that the water crisis is linked to long-term depletion of sources and criticized the previous administration for failing to address infrastructure needs. Meanwhile, the Novska lista emphasized that such restrictions should not be a seasonal norm, especially as the tourism season extends. They are calling for immediate work on the Regional Water Supply system to increase capacity and better manage water distribution during maintenance periods.
