Montenegro Film Festival to host industry rendezvous in Herceg Novi

The 39th Herceg Novi–Montenegro Film Festival and the third Montenegro Film Rendezvous are set to take place in Herceg Novi, beginning August 22. The event aims to connect Montenegrin cinema with the European and regional film scenes through masterclasses, workshops, and pitching sessions.

Aleksandra Božović, Director of the Film Center of Montenegro, noted that the Montenegro Film Rendezvous has expanded from a three-day meeting to a seven-day program, reflecting growing interest. This year’s program includes new collaborations with Francophone producers and workshops for female filmmakers. Additionally, the festival will present recent changes to the Law on Cinematography, intended to make Montenegro a more competitive destination for international productions.

The festival program features a selection of European and African films, including the New African Voices program in collaboration with the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie. Notable participants include cinematographer Manuel Alberto Claro, who will lead a masterclass on visual storytelling.
