Herceg Novi Film Festival opens with international stars

The 39th Herceg Novi Montenegro Film Festival has officially opened, marking a significant milestone by receiving accreditation from the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). The opening ceremony featured the presentation of the “Milan Žmukić” Award to Bogdan Diklić and a screening of the film “Dom”.

Notable international guests include two-time Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi, who received an honorary charter for his contributions to cinema, and Hollywood actor John Savage, who presented his authorized biography. The festival also hosted the Montenegro Film Rendezvous, where producers from the European Producers Club discussed the financial challenges and bureaucratic hurdles facing independent European cinema.

In addition to international stars, the event highlights Montenegrin cinema, showcasing several domestic productions and discussing the growth of the local film industry. Other scheduled programs include masterclasses on cinematography and various documentary screenings.
