Herceg Novi-Montenegro Film Festival screens ‘Life in a beat’
The film ‘Life in a beat’ (Život u ritmu), written and directed by Amerissa Basta, is being screened at the 39th Herceg Novi-Montenegro Film Festival. The film follows Lena, a twenty-year-old woman living in Athens, who struggles to balance family expectations, poverty, and a desire for independence.
Basta noted that the story is deeply personal, drawing from her own experiences as a young woman and a young mother. The narrative explores themes of autonomy and uncertainty, particularly after the protagonist loses her job and discovers she is pregnant. The film was produced as a co-production involving Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, France, North Macedonia, and Montenegro.
