Herdecke emergency services report participant interference during resuscitation

During the Mammutmarsch walking event in Herdecke, a medical emergency occurred on the Ruhrhöhenweg path, requiring a person to be resuscitated. The fire department was alerted at 9:49 AM and was able to locate the patient quickly with the help of guides.

While first responders were praised for their promptness in calling emergency services and beginning resuscitation, the Herdecke fire department criticized the behavior of several participants. According to officials, some walkers attempted to pass directly through the emergency scene and engaged in arguments with responders despite being instructed to stay back. Additionally, the fire department reported that the arrival of emergency vehicles was made difficult because many participants were slow to react to sirens and flashing lights.
