Heredia organizes large-scale marathon and Mother's Day fair with concerts and local vendors

The canton of Heredia hosted the inaugural Heredia Se Mueve 2026 race on Sunday, August 9, featuring 5‑km and 10‑km runs and a 5‑km walk. The event, organized by the Comité Cantonal de Deportes y Recreación de Heredia (CCDR Heredia) with municipal backing, filled its 1,000‑person capacity. Participants started at the north side of the Palacio de los Deportes and followed a route through various districts, with hydration stations, medical assistance and emergency coordination in place.

Later that day, the Municipalidad de Heredia held a free Mother’s Day celebration in Parque Central Nicolás Ulloa Soto. Beginning at 10:00 a.m., the program included an entrepreneurship and gastronomy fair, a concert by the Banda Nacional de Heredia, and concluded with a two‑hour performance by the Sonora Santanera at 7:00 p.m. Officials said the festivities aim to boost local commerce, promote intergenerational community interaction and provide free cultural entertainment.
