Heritage Acres seeks volunteers for upcoming fall season

Heritage Acres, located on the Saanich Peninsula, is preparing for its fall season and is currently seeking volunteers. Following a successful summer featuring Canada Day and Children’s Day events, the site continues to serve as a historical hub for the region.

Founded from the vision of Willard Michell in 1968, the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society manages the 29-acre property. The site houses tens of thousands of artifacts dating back to the 19th century, including vintage farming equipment, buildings, and trains.

Recent programming included an intercultural art festival hosted by the Tsawout First Nation on Canada Day, which featured Coast Salish-inspired sand sculptures by Damon Langlois, alongside food vendors and cultural performances. The society also emphasizes youth engagement, recently hosting a Children’s Day event with contributions from groups such as the BC Aviation Museum.
