Heritage Auctions sets sports auction record with $62.96 million in sales
Heritage Auctions has announced that its ‘Summer Platinum Night Sports Auction,’ held from August 21 to 23, 2026, achieved a record-breaking total of $62,963,254. This figure surpasses the previous record set by the company during the same event in 2024.
The auction featured high-value items including legendary baseball cards, jerseys, and game-used memorabilia. A T206 Honus Wagner card sold for $5,856,000, setting a new record for an ‘Authentic’ rated Wagner card. Additionally, a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card in PSA NM-MT 8 grade fetched $3,721,000, breaking the auction record for that specific grade.
Other notable sales included a 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth card for $1,525,000 and a 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card with a buyback autograph for $1,204,750. The event also saw significant interest in items related to Diego Maradona, Kobe Bryant, and other sporting icons, with over 200 individual auction records established during the three-day period.
