Heritage buildings in Sarajevo and Osijek undergo facade restoration

Historical buildings in Sarajevo and Osijek are undergoing significant facade restorations to preserve local heritage and improve urban aesthetics.

In Sarajevo, a building near the Latin Bridge on Obala Kulina bana has had its facade renovated. While the Stari Grad Municipality owns business premises within the structure, the project was driven by the initiative of individual owners rather than municipal funding. The renovation includes work on the internal courtyard to improve the surrounding Aščiluk street area. The municipality noted that such private initiatives demonstrate civic responsibility and highlighted existing co-financing models for facade repairs.

In Osijek, Croatia, the building at Kuhačeva 27, which houses the Osijek Regional Conservation Department, is nearing the completion of its facade restoration. The project, valued at 58,000 euros, focuses on returning the building to its original green color. This follows previous work on the roof and windows. Future plans for the site include energy efficiency upgrades, such as improved thermal insulation and the installation of LED lighting and solar panels, to achieve greater energy independence.
