Heritage celebrations highlight religious and local history in Canada and France

Various regions are hosting heritage events to highlight local history and architectural landmarks.

In Quebec, Canada, the MRC de La Vallée-du-Richelieu is organizing the 9th edition of the Religious Heritage Days from September 11 to 13. The program, titled ‘De clocher en clocher’, invites the public to visit four churches in the villages of Saint-Charles-sur-Richelieu, Saint-Marc-sur-Richelieu, Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, and Saint-Denis-sur-Richelieu. The initiative aims to connect culture and landscape through historical discovery.

In Brignon, France, the Heritage Days will take place on September 19 and 20, with a specific focus on the local Protestant temple. The building requires urgent roof renovations estimated to cost between €200,000 and €250,000. To support these repairs, the municipality has partnered with the Fondation du Patrimoine to launch a tax-deductible fundraising campaign. While the interior of the temple remains closed to the public due to its condition, visitors can participate in guided tours of the village and special presentations regarding the history of Protestantism.
