Heritage celebrations scheduled for September 2026 in Canada and Europe
Various cultural heritage events are scheduled for September 2026. In Canada, the Archives des jésuites au Canada will participate in the Religious Heritage Days on September 11 and 12. Historian Fannie Dionne will lead workshops exploring the canonization process of Jean de Brébeuf, using archival documents, relics, and photographs to illustrate the history of Jesuit missionaries and the institutional construction of sainthood.
In Europe, the 43rd edition of the European Heritage Days will take place on September 19 and 20, 2026. Organized by the French Ministry of Culture, the event will focus on two themes: ‘Photography Heritage’ and ‘Heritage in Peril: Revive, Resist, Reimagine.’ The weekend will feature free access to various sites, including the headquarters of Le Monde, the Cité du Cinéma, and various national monuments, with special activities such as virtual reality historical reenactments and nocturnal tours in major cities.
