Heritage disputes: Bożków Palace ownership and Dom Książków acquisition
A legal dispute over the ownership of the decaying Bożków Palace remains unresolved. An appeal filed by PBH DOM sp. z o.o. on April 30, 2026, has been pending for over four months without a scheduled hearing date at the Wrocław District Court. The case centers on a March 2025 agreement where the company transferred 4.7 hectares of land and the historic palace to a private individual as part of a debt settlement. A judge-commissioner previously ruled that the transfer could be ineffective against the bankruptcy estate, a decision the company is now contesting.
In a separate heritage development, the National Institute of Heritage (NID) is in discussions to purchase the modernist Dom Książków villa in Tarnów. Tarnów Mayor Jakub Kwaśny confirmed that the acquisition aims to transform the Wojciech Pietrzyk-designed building into a museum. The project follows a change in NID leadership and a previous decision by the Ministry of Culture not to proceed with the purchase.
