Heritage patterns return for FW26 menswear

The Fall/Winter 2026 menswear season is characterized by a resurgence of heritage patterns, including tartan, windowpane, and Prince of Wales checks. Rather than being treated as traditional or museum-like pieces, these patterns are being reimagined through varied scales and unexpected color palettes.

Designers are utilizing these patterns across tailoring, outerwear, trousers, and layering pieces. By significantly enlarging checks, they function as graphic elements, while smaller scales allow them to appear almost as solid colors from a distance. Major fashion houses participating in this trend include Dolce & Gabbana, Zegna, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Rabanne, and Burberry.
