Dominican Republic extradites David Armando Brito Brito to the United States

Dominican authorities have extradited David Armando Brito Brito, known as ‘El Jamaquen’, to the United States. Brito Brito is accused of leading a criminal organization involved in drug trafficking, money laundering, and conspiracy. He was transferred via Las Americas International Airport to Puerto Rico to face charges including the conspiracy to import five kilograms or more of cocaine and the possession of firearms.

His capture follows ‘Operation PT7’ in May, which involved over 30 simultaneous raids in the National District, Santo Domingo Este, and La Altagracia. The extradition was a coordinated effort between the Dominican General Prosecutor's Office, the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD), the U.S. Marshals, the DEA, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

In separate security operations across the Dominican Republic, police and prosecutors have also targeted illegal gambling and street racing. Authorities in Hermanas Mirabal destroyed dozens of slot machines and various pieces of evidence, while intelligence units in Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, and San Pedro de Macorís seized 50 slot machines and 12 high-capacity motorcycles suspected of being used for illegal racing.
